Ubuntu Restricted Drivers Manager

Just wanted to say "Thanks, Jamie!" I tried what you suggested, and my system seems to be working okay with UNrestricted drivers now.

Question is - what broke the restricted drivers in the first place? I'd used the restricted ATI drivers before w/out incident on Ubuntu versions from 6.06 to 7.10, on several different older machines including this one (running an Athlon processor). Then suddenly last week after a reboot as the result of dropping down my refresh rate - Black Screen o' Death time! :o
