The Phoronix Content Management System (
PHXCMS) version 6 -- the content management system that powers Phoronix.com -- was originally scheduled for introduction in the third quarter of this year, but that has changed. PHXCMS-6 and the new Phoronix site will actually be introduced within the next month. I am pushing hard to get PHXCMS-6 ready for launch with the new Phoronix.com skin/layout by the time of
JavaOne 2007. As long as I run into no additional show-stoppers in the development of this CMS update, the new launch should be either the last week of April or the first week of May. Due to pushing this release forward, there will be a few features missing from this release, but ultimately PHXCMS-7 will carry these features and it should be out soon. PHXCMS-7 should contain all of the previously mentioned v6.0 features plus a lot more and that will hopefully be what turns into an open-source CMS project. Most (if not all) of the features mentioned in this
Phoronix relaunch thread have been added.
If you have any suggestions or things you would like to see in the new site or CMS update, please drop a comment or post in the Phoronix Forums. Here's a teaser from this weekend's development of the
new Phoronix interface! More information to come shortly.
