If you've been pushing off on installing Linux due to a lack of CDs or DVDs, OpenSuSE 10.3 Alpha 4 features InstLinux, which allows you to install the Linux distribution (in this instance, OpenSuSE 10.3) while staying inside of Windows. With this week's release of OpenSuSE 10.3 Alpha 4 I decided to investigate a bit further. It was only a month ago that I had
installed Windows Vista Ultimate temporarily for some graphics benchmarking at Phoronix, but today I found myself reinstalling Vista. I had downloaded the five CDs of OpenSuSE 10.3 A4 and then proceeded to try it out in Vista. Well, it started out promising.

However, after starting the installer it had crashed due to not being able to copy
initrd, which is because the location it was looking for hadn't existed on disc #1.

I'll try out InstLinux for SuSE or Ubuntu again when time allows. InstLinux is supposed to allow you to start a new Linux installation from within Windows. More information at
SourceForge.
This is definitely intesting but, I sure wish I had this when I actually had Windows. ;p
