A while back I came across
John Chow's blog, who is the owner of the Windows-based
The Tech Zone web-site, which happens to be a
Phoronix affiliate. John covers a variety of topics on his personal site from Internet advertising ideas (good for beginners) to cars and even iPod sex toys (along with a thing for Asian food). He also makes all of his income off of the Internet with his blog and other sites, which is somewhat similar to me except for my outside ventures and consulting work. Though I will say he has quite a bit of advertisements/spam on his site, but what's wrong with another Capitalist believer? He could improve his image though by ridding the Windows machines. John is also acquaintances with David Lin from when covering
Computex Taipei two years back. David even managed to catch some incriminating photographs of Mr. Chow when at Abit's Happy Hour.
A bit too much to drink, John?
Outside of blogging and drinking in Taiwan, Chow also seems to enjoy
hula hoops. John calls himself the "
root of all evil" and provides links to those who
review his blog. His offer got me thinking... With John running all Microsoft Windows computers and Windows-based reviews with DirectX benchmarks at The Tech Zone, I can see where the evilness could originate. So then would I be a moral servant by opening John's visitors (as a result of the link-back) to the world of Linux computing? If you're a Windows user or are new to
Linux, be sure to check out some of the desktop eye-candy powered by
Beryl or Compiz and the beauty of
open-source projects. Two of my favorite Linux distributions are
Ubuntu and
Fedora. If you're a new Linux convert or a wanna-be convert, check out
Phoronix to see all of the latest Linux hardware happenings.
To make it worth the visit, John is also giving away a
Nintendo Wii, which was donated by a
promotional pens company. John never said you couldn't be efficient and combine his review and contest entry into one :).
