Michael Larabel is an American entrepreneur who is the founder of Phoronix Media, an Internet media company that has become the leader in providing original GNU/Linux hardware content and graphics driver information. Its primary asset is Phoronix.com, but other Phoronix Media properties include the Phoronix Forums, RadeonHD.org, ATI Redblog, Cekora, SpreadGNOME.org, Phoronix-Test-Suite, and the Phorogit software repository. Michael is also a contributor for the Fedora Weekly News and the Linux+DVD magazine and has been quoted in other publications such as CNET.
Michael is also the director of software development for Blue Heron Network LLC, which specializes in assistive technologies for the elderly and those with diminished cognitive ability. Originally developed for Blue Heron Network, he is the creator of Adaptive Color-Captioning Technology. AC-CT is a method for artificially determining the most appropriate colors to use when providing a text-caption overlay on visual media (i.e. photographs). This technology is also able to optimize text captions for those with Macular Degeneration and other eye impairments.
Outside of Phoronix and his other ventures, Michael is an independent software developer and consultant for several technology companies. Through all of this, he is an active GNU/Linux and free software advocate with strong interests in GNOME, X.Org, and Ubuntu. When not traveling, he resides in the United States.
