ET Quake Wars Linux
Yesterday GameStop opened up their pre-orders for
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. This action-packed first person shooter will have a Linux version just like all of the other id Software titles. With that said, GameStop has just received my pre-order of the PC title. Best Buy will begin their ET: Quake Wars pre-order starting April 12. According to GameStop, the game will ship on June 5, 2007, which will also be the date that Phoronix turns three years old :). When the game is released, you can expect a horde of benchmarks, screenshots, and the rest at Phoronix. You can pre-order Quake Wars
here.

I plan to buy Enemy Territory as well. However, I am wondering why you are pre ordering since, from what I can tell Linux support will not be available out of the box, but will come some time after it's release. Have you heard otherwise? It's always been fairly quick in coming, but by that time you can usually have found a copy on sale at retail. I am immensely grateful to id for their Linux support, but there is definitely no need to rush out and buy right away.

With Quake 4 the Linux support came a day or two after the release, and I am hoping that will be the case as well for ET: Quake Wars. When it comes to computer parts, I NEVER shop at retail stores for games (though how often do I buy games?) or other hardware. I personally find it just easier to pre-order it.

I don't play much, but since they support Linux I am going to buy this one! You are going to get beaten a lot now:-D
